At the Scholomance, a school for the magically gifted, there are no teachers, no holidays, and no friendships that aren't strategic. Survival is the only goal, as the school is infested with monsters known as maleficaria. El Higgins is a student with a dark affinity for mass destruction, a power she refuses to use even as she struggles to survive until graduation.
