Moscow, 1921. Bolsheviks have seized the Goliteva sisters' ancestral home, banishing Irina and Lili to the attic. Work with the American Relief Administration offers escape, purpose and perhaps love, but the house is whispering of a past not as dead as they thought. When one of the officials is found dead, the sisters must uncover the truth buried in a history no one in Russia is allowed to remember.
