Osric Mordaunt, an assassin from the Fyren Order, urgently needs healing. Ironically, the sole healer capable is Aurienne Fairhrim, a renowned scientist and member of a rival Order. Desperate for funds to aid the sick, Aurienne reluctantly accepts Osric's bribe, despite her disdain for him and his beliefs. They're forced to collaborate, with Aurienne resentfully working with Osric to heal his ailment and probe a puzzling disease outbreak. As they work together, they struggle to suppress their growing attraction.
