Yellowface follows Juniper Song, who publishes a stolen book under a pseudonym. The narrative explores themes of diversity, racism, and appropriation, questioning which stories individuals have the right to tell.

June Hayward and Athena Liu graduated from the same college. Athena's a literary darling. June's a nobody. Or so June thinks. Nobody wants stories about basic white girls, June thinks. So when June witnesses Athena's death in a freak accident, she acts on impulse: she steals Athena's just-finished manuscript and passes it off as her own. Posing as Juniper Song, a new star in the literary world, June is finally getting everything she ever wanted.
