About this edition

Unknown Publisher's special of Carrie by Stephen King is tracked here as a distinct printing. Hardcover format, listed at — by Folio Society and currently sold out.

Stephen King's debut novel, *Carrie*, tells the story of an ostracised teenage girl tormented by her peers and trapped beneath the suffocating control of her fanatically religious mother. As if the agonies of adolescence were not enough, Carrie White also possesses a dangerous gift for telekinesis. For all its supernatural horror, *Carrie* has endured because, at its core, it is a story about the perils of growing up. King takes the pains of adolescence—alienation, insecurity, and the destabilising loss of control that comes with puberty—and transforms them into something both monstrous and deeply human. For this Folio book, cover artist Edward Kinsella took inspiration from the novel's most iconic scene: Carrie drenched in pig's blood at the school prom. Inside, illustrator David Lupton has created six full-page colour illustrations.
