The Martian

Mark Watney is stranded on Mars, presumed dead by his crew, with no way to communicate with Earth. It's a hopeless situation, yet Mark is determined to survive. So begins a story of adventure as he attempts to escape the Red Planet, armed with a wry sense of humour and a scrappy ingenuity.

Astronaut Mark Watney has a problem. After a freak dust storm that separated him from his crew, he is presumed dead and abandoned on Mars. Stranded, injured, and with no way to contact Earth, he is completely on his own.

But Watney is also a botanist, an engineer, and incredibly resourceful. As his supplies run low and the odds against him stack higher, he turns to science, humour and sheer determination in a bid to survive the Red Planet. The Martian is a survival story that blends science with sharp wit. It is also a tale of resilience, ingenuity and the global effort to bring one man home.
