Ballad of Whispers

Iris Virlana lives by two rules: Never let anyone know who you are. And never, ever, get yourself into a life debt.

The golden sun inked beneath the base of her neck is the reason for both.

In Altaerra, it meant life as a Sunchosen, one of the twenty children branded by the Goddesses at birth to sit on the ruling council. For Iris, it meant a fate confined in a glittering cage, forged and warped by power.

Considered a traitor to the Divine after escaping the Bronze Palace as a child, Iris knows maintaining her new life as an apothecary apprentice to the woman who saved her relies on remaining hidden. But when a life debt forces her to work with an icy prince to uncover answers about a plague ravaging both realms-Iris must navigate maintaining the ruse of who she is, desperately searching for a cure, and a kingdom rife with political scheming.

As the death toll rises, precarious matters of the heart become entangled, and carefully kept secrets begin to unravel...

Will she ever truly escape the power-hungry brutality of the life she fled?
